Today's crossfit workout..."Angie"

So alot of you already know about my new adventures in trying to get my fat butt in shape. My brother in law scott has been the one showing everyone how to do it. The way crossfit seperates all the different workouts is by giving them names...some are after women and some are mens names. The men names are names of actual men that have died in the line of duty, be it military, firefighters or policemen. I think the ones named after women have got to be someones ex-girlfriends or something because I swear the workouts named after women are absolutely horrible horrible horrible. Today we did a workout named "Angie"....actually we only did half of it because it was a death wish. A full angie is this:

100 pull ups
100 push ups
100 sit ups
100 squats

we luckly only did half of that...even half was difficult. Since I don't know many women that can do an actual pull up, we do jumping pull ups...that is still hard. My goal is to be able to do pull ups with no problem and run a mile without stopping. I have also set goals to walk at least two miles a day. I am starting to get really addicted to this working out stuff. My brother in law scott did the full angie. Hes nuts..and he does real pull ups. he did it all in 32 minutes. CRAZY. I attached a photo of me doing my pull ups...hahahhah i wish.

Husband of the year!!!

So I can't believe that I forgot to blog about this...so I am going to do it now because I think its blog worthy..:) A couple of weeks ago Josh found out that another one of my favorite bands was coming to town...The Killers. When Josh told me that they were coming, I almost wet my pants....no wait, I think I actually did, just a little though. Anyways. The tickets went on sale on a Friday at 10 am. That Saturday evening Josh and the kids and I were driving out to mesa to visit with our friends Isaac and Laura, and I realized that I had forgotten to get tickets. I started to get really sad....then I looked over at Josh and he had a little grin on his face. Could it be? Did Josh get tickets? Yes he did. I think I had a huge smile on my face the rest of the evening. I couldn't believe that my fabulous husband took time out of his extremely busy day at work on friday and bought us tickets. I am still in shock. The concert is on April 16th. I can't wait to go....I will for sure give everyone an update on how it went.

He made it!!!!!!

Well yesterday Josh and I attended a meeting to discuss what Braden's needs are as far as schooling. The psychologist and speech pathologist both felt that Braden was well qualified for preschool services. I was super excited to hear the great news. I think I am more excited to know that he scored in normal range for everything but his speech...which helps me feel good to know that there is NOTHING else wrong with our little guy...just a little speech delay. He will be attending school tuesdays thru friday for two and a half hours. I requested that he be in a very structured classroom because I felt that it will help him with his tantrums...they agreed with that. Kids really need structure and its hard when you have a normal life with things to do....I am sure most of you mom's agree. Last night we went and bought him his first backpack. I am so excited for him, but on the other hand I am a bit sad that he is growing up so fast. I know mom's always go through that when kids start kindergarten. If anyone has any advice on how to "cope" with your baby growing up, please share :)

Brother in law for sale!!!

So my brother in law scott just recently graduated from the fire academy. While in the academy he endured some pretty crappy stuff. To be a firefighter you have to be in pretty darn good shape. To get the new recruits in shape, they were required to do a work out that is called "crossfit". Now my sister julie and I decided, hey we can use a little work out, lets try it out. Lets just say that scott is now captain blood in my book....thats why he is up for sale. I think he is trying to kill us. I just recently learned that this is a work out that the navy seals do.....I now know why, when in elementary school was asked "what would you like to be when you grow up", I never thought hhhmmmm....either a firefighter or a navy seal. Instead I would say I wanted to be something like an ice cream tester or bubble bath tester.
Julie and I started this work out last week...just on the days that scott is off luckly, and it was pretty horrible. I looked really funny doing normal things like going to the bathroom, or climbing up stairs. I was so sore. This week was alot better...running was easier and sit ups and push ups also. My goal is to be able to run a mile without stopping. I haven't had a good workout in about 10 years...hence the large butt.
This week our friend april joined us....then today it was so awesome, there were six of us total!!! Some really fun girls from the ward decided to be tortured with us. It makes it so much more fun with people to endure it with you.
If you want to know more about this insane abuse of a workout, they have a website that shows people demonstrating all the different workouts. I believe its www.crossfit.com check it out its pretty funny.

p.s. Scott really isnt for sale....I wouldnt sell him for a million trillion bucks...he's the coolest brother in law ever. besides, he's not mine to sell :)

My most embarrassing moment as a mommy.....

There are so many things that have happened since my last blog entry....holidays etc. But I figure an embarrassing moment takes precedent over all over moments...yes even those magical christmas moments. As you all may know, we have been working with Arizona early intervention program to get Braden some very much needed help for his speech. We started the program back in September. We have had a really nice developmental specialist come a couple of times. Now that he is coming up to his 3rd birthday, he will be at the age where he can attend a special preschool if eligible. In order to be chosen for this wonderful preschool, you have to go through a series of testing with some specialists to see if his speech delay is bad enough to require special schooling. Since Bradens 3rd birthday is the 18th of february, the school district has been in a hurry to get his testing done so that he can be enrolled in school by the time he turns 3.
A few weeks ago, we had an appointment with the schools speech pathologist and school psychologist. We had this appointment at an elementary school next door to the preschool. To make my story make sense, I have to explain what this elementary school was like. It was an all indoor school. one main hall way with all the class rooms along the sides. each class room had big windows where all the kids could see out into the hall way.
Ok, so after Bradens testing was over it was time to go. Braden had been playing with some toys that he wanted to take home with us (of course) Being the strong willed child that he is, he was very angry when I made him leave the toy behind. So.....of course a lovely tantrum began. As I walked down the hall way with a crazy screaming heavy kicking child, I wanted to die. Every child had stopped doing their class work to see what was happening in the hall way. Every teacher was at the window to see me walking by, wondering what in the H@## was wrong with this child. Everyone had ran out of their offices to watch me try to not drop Braden. My favorite was the Librarian...she ran out of the library with her cell phone...probably dialing 911 because it sounded like a child was seriously injured. She asked me over and over..."is this your child...is this your child...whats wrong with him." all I could think was...of course this is my child, do you think in your right mind that I would kidnap a child that was screaming like this? HONESTLY!!!!! I was sooooo embarrassed. I felt like the walk down that hallways was the longest walk of my life....i guess it feels that way when all eyes are on you. Learning stopped for a good 5 minutes that day. The best part about this is that maybe they will see that braden is in need of some help. :)
As soon as I got outside of the school, guess who decided not to scream and cry anymore...thats right Braden. I wanted to absolutely die.
We have a meeting scheduled for the 10th of february to discuss what they specialists have decided to do to help us with our little guy. I hope they offer us the preschool. I know he will do really well and learn so much. We will keep everyone posted.
